Growing up in Minnesota instilled a love of the outdoors. Summers were spent camping, biking, and doing water sports. Winters were full with snowboarding and hockey. Our family would camp along a lake every weekend throughout my childhood. My close friends and I spent countless hours wakeboarding and barefooting on our boat. I eventually joined a local ski show where I'd perform stunts in front of hundreds of people. If we weren't on the water we were on our bikes making jumps or trail riding.
Ambition
Before things froze and the snow flew, the indoor ice rinks were preparing for the upcoming hockey season. This meant ice shavings from the Zamboni. My friends and I would load up a truck bed full of these shavings and set up a rail in someone's backyard for a little pre season rail sesh. Hockey though, was ultimately my sport of choice. Once the temps dropped and the lakes and rivers froze, we could get together to skate and play pond hockey. Then inevitably the snow would arrive and the ski resort was the place to be. There was a whopping 300' of vertical with 3 lifts, 2 rope tows and a terrain park. I worked as a ski and snowboard instructor and was on the crew who helped maintain the terrain park. This meant I was there just about every day they were open for the season; either working or riding. I couldn't get enough.
